Hello! We are Galula, a portuguese-based design brand of furniture, lighting and accessories, run by two designers. Galula’s products fuse clear ‘fun-ctionality’ and quirky design while shaping a better future for our planet.

We seek forms of expression full with quirky highlights within minimalist silhouettes. Made to enrich modern life with uncomplicated designs, we have sought out pieces that are always practical and pleasing to look at, no matter the angle, even when upside down.

We cherish high-quality natural materials, such as expanded and light cork, that develop into a raw aesthetic language. But we also love daring colours and gentle neutrals. Fusing is part of our mind-set and without ever losing sight of the details, our design is efficient, adaptable, and produces a trusty, and welcoming environment. In short, we can say that the essence of Galula is ‘fun-ctional’!

It all started with the product designer duo Mendes Macedo (Filipa Mendes and Gustavo Macedo). The inspiration to launch Galula came from the excellent manufacturers and materials available in Portugal, especially in the northern region, where the co-founders are from. Mendes Macedo creates the collections of furniture and is also responsible for the brand identity. Two aesthetic roads converged into functional design pieces, perfectly aligned with the creation of iconic and timeless pieces, enlighten with identity, quality and a strong sustainability component. That’s the Galula spirit!
