Back to order is part of Cecilia’s Freedom Collection - inspired by Ms. Yeonmi Park’s escape from North Korea. Using New Zealand wool the collection is made up of two hand-knotted and two hand-tufted carpets and uses lines to express order and freedom as her story is told.
Night Out tells the second part of Ms. Yeonmi Park's story, visually exploring when her father was caught for illegal trading and subjected to hard labour as punishment. Back to Order is a structured design, the lines are neat and straight with no deviation or room to break order. The black background represents the darkness of this time with blue and green showing only bright sparks of hope.
