Description
Disobedience is part of Cecilia’s Freedom Collection - inspired by Ms. Yeonmi Park’s escape from North Korea. Using New Zealand wool the collection is made up of two hand-knotted and two hand-tufted carpets and uses lines to express order and freedom as her story is told.
Disobedience tells part one of Ms. Yeonmi Park's escape and how her father took great risk sneaking into China to buy things to bring back to his family. This is displayed in the design through regimented straight lines, with one line sneaking off, along the edge of the rug and into the fringe.
