In the first century, Livia was described as Rome’s strongest woman. She is proudly depicted in ancient sources as suitable to be empress, faithful to the emperor and a good wife, and always balanced and level headed. It is said that she successfully filled the roles of wife, mother, widow and elderly woman. The original is displayed in the Ephesus Museum.
