The origin of the Mughal School of Painting is considered to be a landmark in the history of painting in India. With the establishment of the Mughal empire, the Mughal School of painting originated in the reign of Akbar in 1560 A.D. Emperor Akbar was keenly interested in the art of painting and architecture. Under Emperor Akbar, portraitures documenting palace life and the various achievements of royalty became a prominent feature. Court scenes often gave an inside glimpse into the world of the rulers which might be covered up in the literary aspects of historiography. Such paintings would include both day to day workings of the court as well as important events. Sometimes a good hunt would be commissioned to be painted where more often than not the kings were shown as impeccable hunters with an amazing hunting prowess.

At JAIMINI we bring to you a rare and a rich collection of Mughal portraits, court scenes and others.
