Description
In 2002 Kevin Roche donated the Eero Saarinen and Associates office archives to the Yale University Library. By inspecting the original drawings, letters and other rare materials Matrix International has discovered some new projects of Furniture Design and has deepened the study to boost their development. The result is a modular seating system designed for the lobby of the General Motors Technical Center in Detroit.
Perfect synthesis of the research carried out by Eero Saarinen into modular seating systems, the frame almost floats on the steel base to which is secured by spacers. The continuity between armrest and backrest and its slight widening of the sides make it light and dynamic also in the two or three places.
Armchair and two or three seat sofa with structure in chromed square steel tube. Wooden frame lined with shaped expanded foam. Cushions in expand- ed foam at different densities; not removable covering in leather or fabric.
