A beautiful vintage Baule Bowl or Vase that was traditionally used to collect offerings to offer to spirits, deities and ancestors. The figurines holding the bowl symbolize the protective deities who were considered intermediaries between the living and the ancestors who protected the entire community.
This beautiful Peau or bowl is 100% hand carved in one piece of Acajou wood (locally called Caissedra) is an authentic piece of West African traditional art of sculpting. This is a vintage piece that dates nearly 50 years old and has been revived and finished to preserve its beautiful raw art.
